About Jen
..... |
I
Believe:
 |
In
understanding the dog, first and foremost, as an
individual animal without preconceived ideas as to
what that animal should do or anthropomorphic
misinterpretations. |
 |
Everything I do is designed to help the dog learn
the desired task or behavior. |
 |
The
what and why behind a dog’s actions are more
important than the how. |
 |
In
respect and compassion, enthusiasm and enjoyment. |
 |
That
choke collars, prong collars, halti-collars and
constant food rewards are not acceptable methods of
training a dog. |
 |
The
most important goal in training is to help the dog
be happy and relaxed. |
Background:
 |
Began working with shelter dogs in 1980. |
 |
In
1994, began working with a no-kill rescue
organization |
 |
Through this work, I saw many dogs being “done away
with” due to lack of owner misunderstandings and
lack of communication with the dog. I became aware
that the behavior problems of the dogs were caused
by humans and that only by educating the owners
could this be changed. I decided to make a
difference and help these dogs. |
